7th Grade Language Arts, Literature, Latin Sept 8-12
Now we are back in the swing of things. This week we will have two Latin vocabulary review tests. This will give the kids a solid foundation for upcoming translations. This week they will be reading about how first declension nouns are formed and used. Great background for English grammar! Review is the key word in English grammar also. We have gone back to the basics to review parts of speech using the Shurley method. Right now we are looking at the subject noun/verb pattern (pattern 1). For the rest of the term we’ll be identifying and labeling subjects, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and prepositional phrases in sentences. There will be a short quiz on the Shurley Questions [See English: Tuesday’s assignments.] on Thursday. In Literature we will begin the week with a quick Diagnostic Test. This will give me the ability to analyze their skills. We will continue studying the story, “Papa’s Parrot” looking at context clues and narrative writing techniques. We’ll have a quiz on Thursday. We will have gone over the material in class.
