Punctuated equilibrium. This is one way that scientists describe a world that is always changing and yet always seeming to stay the same. Dynamic and yet static. The steady stream of the burbling brook punctuated by the snowmelt’s flood. Redemption songs. The meandering walk of the graceful human, then finds these punctuated events as opportunities---the walk in the meandering grassy path finds a thorn in the foot. Curses!...Well, no, rather find the gift in the thorn. Perhaps a message to slow down so to better feel the trail and the static flow of space and time in the heartbeat within a warm hand lent from a friend. Hand in hand, then, for pace and friendship in a world of punctuated equilibrium.
