6th Grade Language Arts, Literature, Latin Oct. 20-25

 

            This is going to be an exciting week because of Base Camp and our dance at the end of the week; however, we do have to squeeze in a little work.This week we will continue reading The Bronze Bow, by Elizabeth George Speare, Since we will be going on our Base Camp missions, we will not have a spelling test and our grammar and vocabulary will be apart of the essay work. The whole middle school will be working on the VFW contest paper: Why America’a veterans should be honored. THE VETERAN’S ESSAY IS DUE ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 28!

Election project:  change last activity assigned for this week to make a campaign poster for one candidate: McCain, Obama, Barr, or Nader, on 81/2 by 11 paper.  The campaign poster will be illustrated, use color, AND most important, include why people should vote for your candidate.  You may include their positive attributes, experience, background, characteristics, and stand on issues.  You will NOT receive credit if you make derogatory references to an opponent.  Due 11/3/08.

 

Test over ch. 14 and 15 on Wednesday.  Finish notebook check for ch. 14 and 15.

 

Tuesday:           Research conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.  Write a paragraph stating the position of one side for UN Peace Conference.  Share with partner with different perspective.  Read “School of Peace,” pg 391.

 

Wednesday:     After test, write last chapter “The End of the Arab-Israeli Conflict”

 

Thursday:         Read ch. 5, sec 1.  Do voc. And Key Places in class.
