A SPECIAL DAY INDEED. Thanks to all the volunteers, guests and staff that made our visitors feel at home on Grandparents/Special Friends Day. Our children were so proud and happy to show off their school.



FUN IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER... The Fall Gala, one of our major fundraising events benefiting the Shirley McArthur Scholarship Fund, spans the week of October 14-21. Join us for the Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. on the 14th followed by the Carnivale and Costume Parade at Emily Ann Theater at 5 p.m. October 19th is the Golf Tournament at Circle C, $100/person. BBQ Round-Up at Texas Old Town, Kyle 6:30 p.m. includes live music and a silent auction. Sponsorships and volunteers are needed for all the events.


MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK. This Friday the 6th is our first Community Workday, a chance to put servant leadership into action and help beautify the school. Check with your home room teacher and/or Lauren Burrus, Science Department Chair, for gardening opportunities. As a reminder, we will provide lunch (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.) on Friday.



DID YOU KNOW that each teacher has a wish list? Please check with your room parent to see how you can help. Your specials teachers also need items, specifically a digital camera and other supplies for science and an electronic metronome/tuner for music.



MOM, WHAT'S FOR DINNER? Join other Moms (sorry, no child care) on Thursday October 12, 7 p.m. in McArthur Hall for meal tips and recipes. Bring copies of your recipes or a meal to share. A $5.00 donation goes toward the meeting expenses.


THANK YOU,THANK YOU. 44 students and their families participated in our Sally Foster fundraiser and sold $5376 in gift wrap and other products earning $2688.00 for our school!! Items are scheduled to arrive the week of October 23rd. Top sellers are Skyla Faber-Smith, Grant Gallasini and Karen Coco. Teachers, parents and staff are encouraged to suggest ways that PFO funds can best be put to use for our kids.



THE BACKORDER of SSES shirts has arrived and will be sent home on October 5th. Watch your backpacks and take home folders for the long-sleeved shirt order form, the last of the year. We also have great SSES Tae Kwan Do shirts in stock which will be on the same form!



CARNIVALE IS OCTOBER 14th… that is right around the corner. We are collecting items to give as prizes at the booths. We are in need of: McDonald’s/Wendy’s Happy Meal toys, gently loved stuffed animals, leftover party gift bag toys, any small toy that would be suitable as a prize for the booth games. Please bring them to Lisa Clark or drop them by them by the school office.



S.O.S (SUPPORT OUR STAFF) A matching fund has been started to show our teachers how much all of their hard work is appreciated. We are seeking $9,000 in donations to send all the teachers to the Fall Gala. We have received $3,000 in donations thus far and are looking for additional matching $1,000 donations. Let’s show our thanks for all that they do!
