REMINDER. There is no school this Friday April 20th due to a teachers workday. Teachers are in the process of reviewing language arts, math and science curriculum. There will be school Monday, April 23rd.
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. You are invited to the performance of the St. Stephen's Singers Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 24th at 7 p.m. in the "big church" here at St. Stephen's. The choir will also be singing at the Puppet Stage at the Emily Ann Theatre on Saturday from 12:45-1:00 p.m. for the butterfly release at the Butterfly Festival.
We need volunteers to represent SSES at the Founder's Day Parade in Dripping Springs this Friday. The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. Contact Jackie O'Donnell in the office for more information. We will meet at the Church of Christ parking lot at 4 p.m. Please come and walk the parade with us, carrying the school banner and cross.
Servant Leadership. Thanks to all of our math students who participated in the Math-a-thon, especially Meghan Gibson (1st grade) for raising the most money of any student. We raised $3000.00 to help the kids at St. Jude's Hospital. Thanks to Claire Wilson for organizing this effort.
Readin', Writin ', 'Rithmetic with a twist. This is one of many camps being offered by SSES this summer. This camp is for students who will be in second through sixth grade this fall and runs July 16-20, 9-3. In this multi-age setting, your child will be immersed in a wide variety of language arts activities designed to encourage the love of reading. The second part of camp will include a "no pencils, no paper" math curriculum to stimulate your child's curiosity, higher level thinking skills, and creativity. You should have received an enrollment form for SSES summer camp in Tuesday folders.
NEW PFO officers were elected at Tuesday's meeting. Officers are Kim Gibson, President, Vice Presidents Lore Drott and Diana Perry, Treasurer Terri Thompson, Communications, Kolleen Blanton, Room Parent Coordinator Patrice McAllister, Snack Bar Dawn Prince, TShirt Sales and Community Service Coordinator Christine Byrne, and PFO Faculty Liason Laura Romano. We still need a secretary. Last meeting for this year is May 15th after drop off.
Going once, going twice. Now is the time to reach out and help fill up the silent auction menu for the SSES Spring Extravaganza. Tax forms for donations are available in the front office. Now is the time to rally grandparents, friends and family to help sell raffle tickets A head count for the April 28th Preparty at the Mandola Winery is needed, so please respond to the email Evite. So far over seventy supporters have signed up for what will be a fun and relaxing night.
Watch for the parent online survey the first of next week. We need your thoughts and input.
The time for the music has changed to NOON-7 p.m. for Sunday April 29th. Our own Jonathan Gooch has been added to the lineup of Porter Davis, Carolyn Wonderland, Sarah Jarosz (www.myspace.com/sarahjaroszmusic), Slim Richey and the Jitterbug Vipers, Matt the Electrician and Laura Freeman (greenkidmusic.com). The final spring orientation for new and returning families is April 19th for Middle School. Orientation will be held from 4-5 pm in the Parish Hall. Child care is provided. Summer Orientations will be held on August 16th for PK and Primary School and August 17th for Intermediate and Middle School.
9th Annual Butterfly Festival @ the EmilyAnn Theatre in Wimberley is April 21st from 10-4 p.m. There will be a Dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza , the Live Release of hundreds of butterflies, a Commemorative Air Force Fly-Over, a Butterfly Flight House, Live and Silent auctions, Butterfly art, Music, Puppet shows and Concessions. Open enrollment began April 1 for new students. If your children will be attending SSES next year, please get the contracts and deposits back to the front office.
