7th Grade Literature Syllabus
St. Stephen’s Episcopal School 7th Grade Literature First Six Weeks 2008-2009 Teacher: Lisl Bambas Class time: 11:30-12:05; Course description: Text: Prentice Hall Literature. The students continue their study of literature by reading a variety of genres: novels, short stories, poetry, some drama, and expository pieces. These pieces are studied in the light of character development, setting plot, themes, foreshadowing, conflict, and resolution. Figurative language and symbolism are explored. Expository works include source materials for research papers, comprehension exercises, and the class text. Grading Scheme: Participation 10%; Homework 15%; Class work 15%; Quizzes 20%, Tests 25%; Homework is due on the date assigned. Late work will not receive a grade but must be completed.
