MONARCH MIGRATION

Stones crunch beneath my feet

Sunlight filters through the oak trees

Then an explosion of life

Shining gold like flames

Rising

 Filling the sky

The sheer quantity of blazing monarchs

Ascending from the treetops

A thousand sunsets reflected in their wings

They swirl and twist

On air currents

High above where I stand

Mesmerized

As the cool blue sky

Washes away the copper sea
